November 2020 MHSN Walk Down Memory Lane # 3
For this “Walk down Memory Lane” we move ahead to fall of second year in 1970. By now we were “Big Sisters” treating our “Little Sisters” to Initiation. We weren’t a whole lot easier on them than our “Big Sisters” were with us a year earlier as this picture shows.
Also by October-November 1970 many of us had started our speciality rotations. Five of our classmates (Francine Auffrey, Gail Blair, Myra Caie, Marilyn Hatchard, and Liz Payne) were the first of our class to go to what was then known as “The Provincial Hospital” for the Psychiatric Nursing rotation. They joined two students from Saint John General Hospital (Bonnie Morton and Debbie Molasky) and two from the Victoria Public Hospital – Fredericton (Sharon Doherty and Heather Edney) for their rotation. See picture below. Who else from our class went to Saint John later in second year? What stories do you have?
How about others in the class? What was your first speciality rotation and what memories do you have to tell us about it? Or, alternatively, what was your favourite speciality rotation and what stories and/or pictures do you have from it?
Today we are 18 months from our reunion. While that sounds like a lot of time, there’s lots for us to organize and having an indication of numbers helps us tremendously. For the 37 of you who have indicated that you hope to attend we are really looking forward to seeing you in 2022.
If you are one of the nine classmates who has not given us any indication of whether you might attend the reunion, we’d REALLY like to hear from you even if you are not planning on attending.
You can expect monthly “Walks Down Memory Lane” emails from the Committee between now and May 2021. Beginning June 2021 emails will be more specifically geared to details for the reunion.
