April 2022 Count Down to 50th Reunion – 2 Months
Responses to Our First Visualization Exercise
We had several wonderful responses to our first visualization on the “advice you would give to 18-year-old self” and most were copied to the class. Just in case you missed those responses; here they are:
- Enjoy the friendships and savour the value of what you are learning. JoAnn Barry Gallagher
- I think my advice would be to work hard, always make time for friends and be kinder than necessary. Kindness and caring are the bedrock of nursing… that is what I learned from Mrs. MacAloney, RN at the Sackville Memorial hospital when I had my gallbladder out in grade nine. It is what propelled me into nursing. Brenda Tingley
- My advice to anyone entering nursing would be “ Always be kind and compassionate. You do not know what is happening in people’s lives”. Brenda Farrar Malone
- Do the best you can but don’t get so stressed out that you can’t think straight. Give yourself time for fun too. Lynda Wheaton Leclerc
- Guess my advice to self would be… don’t be so timid and try new things, take chances now and again. Helen McGrath Brown
- My advice to my 21-year-old self (not 18) is stay away from Dekuyper gin! (you had to be 21 to buy alcohol then…) some of you will know what I mean. Louise Carrier Deschenes
- Do not listen to the gossip coming from the nursing world. Like everything in life, nursing will be for you what YOU MAKE IT: very satisfying or a pain! ( I decided to be a nurse at the age of 5 and never wanted anything else.) Francine Auffrey Belliveau
- I’d tell her to trust herself & follow her heart ❤️ Mary Lou St. Pierre Audet
- You’ll make new friends and some will last over 50 years. Also to invest money GIC not RRSP’s. Geraldine Norman
Second Visualization Exercise
Our second visualization exercise is for you to tell us what your occupation would be if you hadn’t entered nursing. Again, we’ve provided the Committee’s responses to stimulate your imagination. Our challenge to the class is to see if we can get more than 10 responses this month!
