This month on our website http://mhsn1972.com we’ve added pictures from our 40th Reunion in 2012 and 45th in 2017. We’re sure you’ll enjoy seeing pictures of Wilma Dustin Harding and her husband Charlie who provided impromptu guitar music at the 40th while some of us spontaneously danced. Or, examine the pictures taken in costume on Nostalgia night. Do you also recall how impressed we all were that Pat Flannagan Doyle still fit into her student uniform?
At our 45th reunion Joan Morrison Brunet ably led us in singing our class song at the reception on Saturday night. Most of us had forgotten the tune was to John Denver’s Friends with You but not Joan! Also, do you remember Joanne Albert Belliveau leading us in early morning exercises or the somber moments we spent at the RCMP Memorial along the river? Lynda Wheaton Leclerc did an outstanding job hosting us at a BBQ at her lovely home in 2017. Kudos to her hubby Gilles for meeting our numerous requests for how we wanted our meat done! We’ve also added a picture from another group who went to Saint John for psychiatry to second year memorabilia.
We received 18 responses to our June request regarding the activities classmates would like us to plan for the reunion and no volunteers to help us plan those activities. Based on the choices classmates provided the Committee will plan for the following activities and provide more information with registration form.
- Morning walk/exercise
- Hospital Tour
- Ecumenical Service
- Winery Tour (can accommodate up to 15 participants)
As mentioned in our June class communication, our definite plans for our 50th Reunion include a reception on Saturday June 11th and a banquet on Sunday June 12th; both at the hotel. Food at the reception will be self-serve and the banquet will be a sit-down dinner. As we get closer to the Reunion we’re trying to anticipate small gestures that may make a big difference for some of us who plan to attend. As one example, we believe that more than five and likely less than 10 of us have some health limitations that make self-service challenging at the reception. We know our class is filled with very caring individuals and also some of us who are reluctant to ask for assistance. We think it would be nice to have “Reunion Buddies” for these people to enjoy all aspects of the reunion without the anxiety about navigating the challenges of a buffet or getting to an event that is not at the Reunion Venue. If you are interested in being a Reunion Buddy or believe you would benefit from having a Reunion Buddy, please let us know.
